Rocksport Bar & Grill
"Rock The Blues" jam - time TBA
West Seattle
This is going to be the first "Rock the Blues" jam and will be held at the ROCKSPORT bar & grill in West Seattle (www.rocksport.net). The idea is to get some very talented blues, R&B, and rock musicians together for a night of fun and to celebrate the blues & rock music by having a good old fashion jam session. Since rock was born from the blues, I think it seems like a natural thing to do. It is a rare opportunity to have so much talent on one stage all in one night. I am dedicating the night in memory of two very much loved and talented musicians that have passed on. One is BUDDY MILES and the other is RON BRYANT who I just recently was informed were cousins. Ron was never one to brag, so that doesn't surprise me one bit that he never mentioned it. Ron was the founder and drummer of Seattle's own SOCIETY'S CHILD and of course I don't need to tell you who Buddy Miles was. Now that I know they were cousins, it makes perfect sense. They were both two of the most humble, friendly, and would do most anything to help people, that I've ever known.
Below is a list of confirmed musicians that will be performing:
TONY COLEMAN (BB King's drummer, Tony Coleman band), GOLDY McJOHN (founding keyboard player for STEPPENWOLF), Goldy will sit in with members of GRAY SKY FALLING performing a couple of Steppenwolf songs (If you have never seen Goldy play the keyboard, you'll be in for a real treat), Straight On (the best Heart tribute band I've ever heard), BRIZEE (appearing courtesy of music producer Phil Ramone), John Carey Xperience (from Palm Springs, California), Dudley Taft Blues Overkill, Frank "Stainless" Steele (he has performed on stage with Najee and Grover Washington Jr.), SOCIETY'S CHILD (a very talented Las Vegas style show band), KK RYDER with guest LAURIE MILLER, and others yet to be announced.
Thank-you,
Gary Draper
